Night Shift – Diploma Exhibition
Year: 2018
Editorial design, exhibition design
Size: 24 x 18 cm
In the winter semester 2017/18 I joined forces with 5 fellow students to organize the diploma exhibition including exhibition catalog, posters and party. In that year we decided to emphasize the work of the diploma exhibition, which nobody really ever gets to see. In the creative field, we know them - the night shifts, which can be really productive, but they are also exhausting. Therefore, everything was under the topic »night shift«.
The overall theme led us to Chromolux paper with an uncoated back and a glossy front. A Japanese cover enabled us to literally translate the idea of »the back of things«, which are simply invisible to the viewer. On the inside we risoprinted pictures of the diploma process and a portrait, either in violet or green, depending on the course of study. And on the outside a simple black and white picture of the »shining« result with its description.
We developed a tour through the exhibition rooms and designed the order of the catalogs analogously. In addition, the color code was taken up again in the exhibit overview and in the signage throughout the exhibition and the projects on display.
A special effect was the fluorescent elements during the whole process. The exhibition poster, on which a starry sky and a moon shine in the dark, serves as the cover.
